POOL PARTY READY BODY
My EDC smushbox came in the mail last week and it was just kick in the ass I needed. After Coachella I went on an eating binge and wasn’t working out regularly. I’d maybe get two in a week, maybe. Memorial Day, the kick off to the summer party season, is right around the corner so the pressure is definitely on. Time to put down the pack of stogs and pick up those weights!
I’m no fitness expert but I’ve gathered some great workouts from a few close friends who are certified personal trainers. Some folks have asked me how I keep my body svelte, and the answer is diet and exercise. There’s no way around it. Granted, I’ve been blessed with a pretty high metabolism. However, I feel it slowing down a bit as I get older. I’ll save diet for another post…
A favorite workout of mine for when I’m pressed for time is this 20 min body buster:
- 15 Squats
- 10 Push-ups
- 5 Pull-ups or 15 Sit-ups
Repeat over and over for 20 min, taking breaks when you need. To hit different muscles groups and confuse your body a bit, use different variations of the exercise. For example to make your squats more challenging, add weight with dumbells or kettles bells. Instead of regular push-ups, try diamond push-ups, wide-leg push-ups, or push-ups with your legs elevated behind you. For sit-ups, try reverse sit-ups for those lower abs. Keep a tally of how many sets you do and try to improve every workout! I usually couple this workout with a 3mile run.
Try it out and let me know how you do!
